Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Emotional Relief with EFT – St Albans, London, Skype
EFT, also referred to as psychological acupressure, is a radical and effective self-development tool which helps to gently get to the emotional and psychological root of any problem. Combining conventional talk therapy with an understanding of the energetic aspects of the human body as revealed in oriental medicine, the technique is powerful for releasing trauma, suppressed emotion, memories and beliefs.
I often incorporate and combine EFT into Cognitive Hypnotherapy sessions because I’ve found it to be a powerful technique for releasing trauma, suppressed emotion, memories and beliefs. The approach simply involves working through the problems whilst tapping gently on specific acupressure points on the face and body.
You will be taught the technique so you can use it outside the sessions whenever you need to.
EFT works and the results speak for themselves! Here you can see it being discussed on the BBC news.
In the video ‘The Tapping Solution’, biologist and author (Biology of Belief) Bruce Lipton, talks about the power of our subconscious mind on our well-being and health, and the power of EFT to bring about change.
The Eastern Medicine view of Emotion and Health
Eastern medicine teaches us that energy moves within us via a system of pathways and channels called meridians. This life-force energy feeds and nourishes us. When it is flowing freely and easily, our body and mind feel in balance and our e-motions (energy-in-motion) are felt as a positive reflection of this balance. At these times we feel good about ourselves; are able to clearly and effectively communicate and express ourselves; we can be present in the moment; and our body will be in a state of ease.
When energy flow is constricted or disturbed, we don’t receive the full energetic nourishment we need and the reverse is true. At these times we experience uncomfortable feelings such as fear, anger and grief. Energetic blockages occur in response to limited thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, others and the world, painful memories and negative expectations. We can be in flow one minute and out of flow the next according to the thoughts that have passed through our mind. Over prolonged periods of time, emotional disharmony and energetic disruption, manifests as physical health problems.
A negative emotion acts like a warning sign to let us know that something about our thought, attitude, behaviour or environment is off-key and requires some resolution or healing. If we use our emotions and feelings as a guidance system, to bring ourselves back into a state of ‘flow’, we really can navigate our way to a place a contentment and happiness.
The theory behind how EFT works, is that by tapping on specific points of the meridian energy system whilst focusing on the thoughts, feelings or emotions which cause the disharmonious emotions, we get the energy moving again around that specific issue. In the process of doing so we change the mental, energetic and emotional rewiring and we swiftly begin to see things in a new light and develop different patterns of response.
